9 fun activities for hot weather or heatwave

1. Playing with water
For a few hours I think it is nonsense to have a bath, and to leave it for a few afternoons I also find nonsense. In the summer, too, I'm not really a big fan of that. Yet it is nice though; playing with water. That's why I shared the DIY of the new waterway that the hubby made last week. But the waterway with boats always scores very well. At the Action I also bought 4 of those mini water guns for 89 cents. For everyone a 😉 Then I always say that they can only spray the plants, and secretly I go a little further. The children enjoy themselves so that you can keep an eye on them from the inside.

2. In the sandbox
Choose a playground with trees with lots of shade and let your child enjoy his walk in the sandbox. Shorts on, shirt on and off. Possibly a shovel or a sand wagon and then enjoy how your child is playing.

3. Water playground
Now a visit to the beach is of course very nice, but you will be in full sun. And to go to the beach for a few hours now, unless you live in the neighborhood ... At a water playground you often have more shade. You can pack up the bag in advance so that you can continue immediately after school. Drink with it, some food, swimsuits and towels and an e-reader for yourself. That way you'll get through the day.

4. Treasure hunting in ice
Find some candies that do not melt, or some little toys made of plastic. Put it in a plastic container and fill it with water. Leave a night in the freezer and the next day the children can enjoy it. With a bottle of (hot) water, a hammer or what they think of themselves.

An extra dimension gives it when you dissolve baking soda in the water and let it freeze and then give it a spray with vinegar. That reacts with each other so that it starts to fizz.

5. Blowing bubbles
Blowing bubbles also always scores very well as outdoor activities with the children. Whether it is a simple bubble blower or a bubble blow gun or one with special shapes. You can also easily make yourself a bubble blower with sticks and a rope and a soapy water to blow mega-bubbles.

6. Water slide
Okay, this requires some preparation but is definitely worth the effort for an afternoon of fun. The best thing is of course a soap slide, where you explain a sail far into the lawn. And smear with green soap and water. Please note that you do not combine this with detergent, you will get burns as happened here.

Of course you can also make it easy for yourself and still blow up a little bath, even if it's only the side. Pour some water into it, and place a slide over the edge.

7. Blowing out
When it's warm, a cool breeze can always help you cool down and refresh yourself. Then there must of course be wind. Places where you can quickly find wind are on the beach, in the harbor or at large open plains or between apartment buildings. When it is open, it is always fun to leave a kite (homemade or not). Or to play with a windmill. Making your own fan or knitting on air conditioning buttons is also fun.

8. Shadow drawings
At the hottest of the day between twelve and three I prefer to stay inside and otherwise I make sure there is enough shade in the garden. Now we already have a large tree that ensures that half of the garden is in the shade and for the other part I put a parasol on it. You now also have shade cloths that provide a lot of shade or you can roll out a sunscreen. This also ensures that it stays pleasant inside. With sun and shade you can also do fun games, how about checking each other's shadow with sidewalk chalk?

9. Continue to drink
With the warm weather, you naturally have to drink a lot and get moisture inside. A few years ago I therefore bought a plastic jerrycan which I fill with water and put two cups on it. In this way they can drink as much as they want, and the plants often also get some water. That way you do not keep walking back and forth and they still get enough moisture inside. Of course you can also fill them for once with some ice cubes. Taste I do not because it is often a water ballet and then everything will stick or unwelcome flying guests arrive.
